Trip Český Krumlov

It is famous for its atmosphere made by crooked streets, old Gothic and Renaissance houses, cosy pubs and small shops. Many festivals take place here, for example The Cesky Krumlov International Music Festival, the Festival of Ancient Music or the Five-petalled Rose Celebrations.

The city is situated in a valley of Vltava river near Austrian borders. The first mention of the city is from 13th century. The heyday of Cesky Krumlov is connected with the Rozmberk family who made Cesky Krumlov their home residence for 300 years. The dominant of the city is chateau complex. Originally it was Gothic castle which was later rebuilt in the Italian Renaissance style. It is surrounded with original Gothic wall. The chateau complex is the second largest in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle. Other parts of the complex are e.g. Baroque theatre, gardens with Rococo fountain or Bellarie folly with the famous revolving stage.
